Dr. Xiaohua Yang, Professor of International Business and Director of China Business Studies Initiative (CBSI) at University of San Francisco, chaired a panel that discussed business expansion through global strategic Investment at the 2017 HYSTA Annual Conference, a signature event that brought together over 1000 investors, high level executives, scientists and scholars, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley and China. This year’s annual conference theme is Mapping Out the Digital Silk Road with a focus on U.S.- China Tech Investment.
Professor Yang, together with a diverse group of professionals who have had vast experience operating and investing in U.S. and China, examined investment strategies of both China and U.S. based companies and the panelist shared their past experiences, current trends, and incoming rules and regulations that may impact local companies’ investment in innovation and high tech sectors. The Panelists included Chris DeAngelist, Partner and the GM of Alliance Development Group based in Beijing, Fengmin Gong, VP of Information Security Strategy and Associate Dean of Didi Research Institute; Dongyan Wang, VP and GM of Midea Emerging Technology Center (Silicon Valley) and AI Research Institute (Shenzhen, China) in Midea Group, and Tao Wang, Managing Director of SAIC Ventures.
HYSTA is one of the largest and most influential professional organizations in Silicon Valley, connecting the United States and China to enable greater entrepreneurship, leadership, and technical collaboration between both countries. David Chen, former President of Pactera and member of CBSI advisory board, heads this organization.
