September 29th, 2022 marked the inauguration of the Center for Business Studies and Innovation in Asia-Pacific.

In attendance were diplomatic Corp members and other esteemed guests, including the honorable Consul General William Chik of Singapore, Deputy Consul General Pan QingJiang of China, Deputy Consul General Raquel Solano of the Philippines, Consul Noritoshi Kirokawa of Japan, Ambassador Larry Greenwood, former US Ambassador to APEC, along with the members of USF leadership team, CBSI's advisory board members, industry partners, community supporters, alumni, faculty and students from across the university.

CBSI-AP Director Xiaohua Yang kicked-off the event with the welcome remarks, followed by the School of Management Dean Otgo Erhemjants and Provost and VP of Academic affairs, Chinyere Oparah.

Taking a moment to acknowledge the founding members of the CBSI-AP, the night moved on to a Fireside Chat, on the topic 'Is the future Asian? The Sea Changes in the Asia-Pacific'.

An engaging conversation between Larry Greenwood and Tara Joseph (Former President of AmCham in Hong Kong and a journalist by training), organized by Ker Gibbs (SOM Executive-In-Residence and the immediate past president of AmCham Shanghai), culminated into an insightful introspection.

The highlight of the event being the conferment of the new center by Fr. Paul Fitzgerald S.J.

Animated conversations over drinks and traditional Asian food with the talented USF student Trio playing classical music , called the night to a closing, with excitement of what is next to follow this launch of the new center.

The center would like to acknowledge NBC Bay Area News' generosity in sponsoring the MC for the inaugural event, Ms. Ginger Conejero-Saab, an Emmy-nominated journalist and reporter.
